People who follow me on media platforms know that my niche is money. I talk about it on daily basis and one thing that you may not know is that I learn about it everyday too. This is really a painstaking exercise, especially for people who think that they are so busy that they cannot create time on their busy schedules to study about money. I am sorry to say that if you belong to that category of people then you are not on the right track... It doesn't just work that way.
You must have met, or at least heard of, specialists like artists who paint beautiful pictures which usually get people wondering how they do it. It is not magic. It is simple. Those specialists spend time more than you can imagine to learn how to do that work in their area of specialty. They learn, try it, fail, but certainly do not give up. The more they learn and fail, the more they do it better. They will never do it well if they don't try it and fail several times.
Money is not different. The more you learn about money, the more you discover different ways to attract it into your life. You discover some of these ways after failing awfully. I will tell you something which will reshape your thinking and make you get better in your quest for financial freedom.
Many people just wake up and start chasing money without knowing that money will keep running away from them. Money is like a fish in the ocean. A fisherman who runs behind it to catch it without a bait is definitely wasting his time. He will never catch it unless by virtue of some mistake on the part of the fish. But a fisherman who has a bait will instead attract the fish into the direction of the bait which is his direction. This is the same thing with money. If you get up and start chasing money without knowing that you need to deliver value to attract it, you will find it very difficult to get it. Thus, the first critical issue about money is that, you don’t have to chase money as most unsuccessful people do. Deliver value and money will follow you.
Also, you don’t have to hate money if you want to attract it into your life. I understand that some people are so inclined to religion that they either consider money or people who possess money as evil. This is really bad of you if you are one of such people. Money is not bad neither are people who possess it. It is the way you see money and the people who possess it which is bad. Reshape your thought because if you keep hating money and its possessors, you will never have it. Mark these words today: "You cannot fight for what you hate."
Another critical issue about money is that many people don't know about the exact amount of money that they want. I know some people will ask a question like "Am I even supposed to know the exact amount of money that I want?" Yes, you are supposed to know! Clarity is a critical factor in money acquisition. You need to know the exact amount of money that you are striving to have. You cannot be striving for something that you don't know about. Once you know the overall amount of money that you need or want, you will develop strategies to get it. You will set the base of what you must make in a week or month or year.
Further, I have met several people from different parts of the country in particular and the world at large who do not really know that they don't have to spend more than they earn. They make reasonable amounts of money but spend carelessly. If you really want to be rich, you have to live below your means. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that you should not live a good life. Of course you need to live a good life too. Good life is not meant for certain people. All you need to do is make more money so that you will live a good life and still stay rich. But keep in mind that you don't have to spend more than you earn. The way out is to earn more so that you will spend well without going broke. If you must spend more, make sure you are not spending on liabilities. Spend on assets which will make you more money.
Furthermore, know that salary alone cannot make you rich. I know that this will shock many people because they believe that once you go to school, get a good degree and get a good job, you are rich. That is not true. No one will pay you a salary that will make you super rich. That is not done in my country. Rather, they will employ you, drastically increase your working hours and make sure that your dreams are frustrated. They will give you a meagre salary that cannot afford you a good house, car, travels and many other things. Don't you think you deserve those things? If you think you deserve them then you need to rethink. Keep your job if you like it but don't depend on salary alone. Look for ways to make money in the form of profits, rents, dividends and interest. This simply means that you have to invest.
Again, don't spend money on stupid stuffs. What I call stupid stuffs are liabilities . Buy assets first. Assets put money into your pocket while liabilities remove it. You can buy assets and then use the money generated from the assets to buy liabilities if you cannot do without liabilities. Most young Cameroonians are poor because they spend much of their money on liabilities. They buy expensive dresses, shoes, wrist watches, alcohol and many more to impress the people. Know that the goal is not to look rich but to be rich.
